Crochet Hot Plate Pattern

With the start of fall and the beginning of cool weather and hot casseroles, I thought it would be fun to come up with some cute hot plates to go along too!  This pattern works in the round and features the simplicity of double crochet and a bit of color change work so it’s great for beginner and seasoned crocheters alike.

Simple Crochet Hot Plate Pattern

Materials:

  • Lily Sugar n’ Cream Yarn in Hot Blue and Hot Green
  • 5.5 mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Finished Measurement:

8.5 inch Diameter

Key:

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • inc – make two dc’s in the same stitch
  • sl st – slip stitch

Pattern notes:

Start each round with a chain-3, but this chain does not count as a stitch.  At the end of each round, join with the 1st double crochet of the round and NOT the chain-3.

Blue with Green Stripe

-Front-

Start with blue yarn.

Round 1: In magic ring, ch 3 and make 12 dc (12)

Round 2: Inc in each stitch (24)

Round 3: Inc in every other stitch (36)

Round 4: Inc in every 3rd stitch (48)

Round 5: Inc in every 4th stitch (60)

Cut blue yarn and attach green yarn.

Round 6: Inc in every 5th stitch  (72)

Cut green yarn and attach blue yarn.

Round 7: Inc in every 6th stitch (84)

Cut yarn.

-Back-

Using blue yarn, repeat directions for rounds 1-7 without the color changes.

-Connecting the front and back-

With wrong sides together, line up the the stitches on the outer edges of the front and back pieces.  Attach main color and join the pieces together using slip stitch around the entire piece.

-Making the hangable loop-

Once you reach the last slip stitch, ch 8 and join with the 1st slip stitch of the round.

To even out the edge, slip stitch in the next few stitches.

Cut yarn, and weave in your ends.

Green with Blue Stripe
