Why You’ll Love This Crochet Flower Pattern

I know there are a lot of crochet flower patterns out there, so let me tell you why this one is worth bookmarking.

  • It’s genuinely easy. If you can make a magic ring and a double and single crochet, you can make this flower. It’s one of those simple crochet flower patterns that actually looks more impressive than the skill level required. Beginners, this one is for you!
  • It works up in two rounds. We’re talking ten minutes, maybe fifteen if you’re going slowly. It’s the perfect project for when you want to make something but don’t have a lot of time.
  • Two sizes, one pattern. Need a smaller crochet flower for a delicate project? Go with Size 1. Want something with a little more oomph? Size 2 is for you. Both are included right here.
  • It’s a perfect stash buster. Each flower uses such a small amount of yarn. This is the project you make with all those little leftover bits you can’t bring yourself to throw away. (We’ve all got them!)
  • It attaches to everything. Hats, bags, headbands, wreaths, gift wrapping, and on garments. Once you start making these little crochet flowers, you’ll find reasons to put them on absolutely everything.

About This Crochet Daisy Design

This pattern makes a classic daisy crochet flower with a contrasting center and six (or eight!) radiating petals. The classic yellow and white is what gives it that cheerful, daisy look but of course you can make it in any colors you love.

The construction is simple: Round 1 builds the center of the flower, and Round 2 creates all the petals using a special triple cluster stitch. Don’t let that sound intimidating though. I walk you through it step by step, and once you do it once, it clicks immediately.

The Size 1 daisy has 6 petals and the Size 2 has 8, which is part of what gives them such a different feel even though they’re made the same way. The larger one is a little more dramatic and full, while the smaller one is sweet and delicate.

What Yarn to Use for a Crochet Flower

Because these flowers are so small, this is absolutely the project to raid your scrap bin for. You only need about 11–13 yards for the main color and 8–9 yards for the contrasting color so basically, any leftover yarn you have lying around will work!

I used Loops & Threads Soft Classic in White and Butter Yellow for the classic daisy look, but the beauty of a simple crochet flower pattern like this is that you can make it in literally any color combination you want. Pink and cream, lavender and white, bright orange and yellow, go wild friend!

One tip: for the crispest stitch definition (which really makes those petals pop!), I recommend a smooth, non-fuzzy yarn. Save the fluffy stuff for cozy projects. For crochet little flowers like these, a clean acrylic or cotton will give you the best results.

What Can You Make With a Crochet Daisy?

Oh, I’m so glad you asked, lol. The list is honestly endless, which is one of the reasons I love this pattern so much. Here are some of my favorite ways to use these little flowers:

  • Add it to a hat or beanie as a sweet embellishment. It transforms a simple solid hat into something special.
  • Attach it to a crochet bag or tote bag for a boho, handmade touch.
  • Sew it onto a headband or ear warmer if you’ve made the Pop Rock Headband, a daisy on the side is chef’s kiss.
  • Use them as gift toppers instead of a bow. So much cuter, and they’re basically free if you’re using scrap yarn.
  • Make a whole bunch and sew them into a garlands for home decor. Strung together, these crochet little flowers make the most beautiful spring decoration.
  • Add them to wreaths for an instant handmade upgrade.
  • Attach them to hair clips or a brooch for a simple cheery touch to your outfit.
  • Make a crochet bouquet by whipping up a whole stack of them!

Is This an Easy Crochet Flower for Beginners?

Yes! This is genuinely one of the most beginner friendly free crochet flower patterns you’ll find. The stitch count is low, the rounds are short, and you only need to know a few basic skills to get started.

The one thing that might feel new is the triple cluster stitch, which is used to create the petals. It sounds fancier than it is, I promise. It’s just a variation of a standard crochet stitch, and I’ve got it fully explained in the Notes section of the pattern plus a video tutorial to show you exactly how it’s done.

If you’ve been looking for a simple crochet flower pattern to practice with before tackling something bigger, this is the perfect one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the easiest crochet flower pattern for beginners?

This two round daisy is one of the easiest crochet flower patterns you’ll find! It uses basic stitches and works up in just minutes. The only new technique is the triple cluster stitch for the petals, which is fully explained in the pattern notes and video tutorial.

How do I make a simple crochet flower?

This pattern is as simple as it gets. Just two rounds! Round 1 builds the center using a magic ring, and Round 2 creates all the petals. Full written instructions and a video walkthrough are included.

What yarn is best for crochet flowers?

A smooth worsted weight acrylic (what I use in this pattern) or cotton works beautifully for crochet flowers because it gives clean stitch definition that makes the petals pop. Since flowers use so little yarn, they’re also perfect for using up scraps from your stash!

How big are these crochet daisies?

The Size 1 daisy measures about 2.75″ (7 cm) in diameter and the Size 2 measures about 3.5″ (9 cm). Both sizes are included in this free pattern.

What can I attach my crochet flower to?

So many things! Hats, bags, headbands, garlands, wreaths, gift wrapping, blanket borders — once you start making them you’ll find a reason to put them on everything. They’re also great as appliques on granny squares.

Can I sell items made from this pattern?

Yes! You can sell finished items as long as they are handmade by you personally (not mass produced) and you credit Just Be Crafty. Please see my pattern permissions page for full details.
